December 12, 2023: AngelSurrender

The ✨ 12.12 ✨ in tarot asks us for surrender and letting go. At this point in his journey, the Fool feels like he has sacrificed everything and feels defeated, unsure of what to do other than pause. During this time of R&R, his soul is able to speak up. The Fool finds his inner world and connects with a deeper truth that enables him to let go of control, trust and shift his perspectives in alignment with serenity and peace.

Journaling Prompt: When can I create a space for rest and reset today, this week, this season?

Tarot Card: The Hanged Man (number 12)

December 13, 2023: Mercury retrogrades

Mercury retrograde is a time for channeling mental energy inward, reflecting, re-assessing, and rethinking whatever it is we've been focused on over the past few months. When Mercury is in retrograde, our communication will be challenged. Watch out for misunderstandings, miscommunications and any unnecessary arguments that may arise.

Timely, before the season of gatherings for some of us! Remember to gift to yourself first: what tools can support this period of more intense socialising or feelings of isolation? Where can your voice support you in reaching out for moments in presence with loving souls?

December 21, 2023: Sun enters Capricorn

“This transit emphasises the qualities of endurance, seriousness, ambition, and depth. Return to authentic, tried and true values. Long-term undertakings, long-lasting accomplishments, and measured, controlled exchanges with others are typical of this period.
This is a positive configuration for all those who have ambitions, & who laud self-discipline. This would be a good
time, too, to rise up through the ranks: this mood easily lends itself to this.
Take care of your assets during these transits, and any decisions that bring financial and emotional security.” from pg 17 of the St Soleil Celestial Journal.

December 21-22, 2023: Litha and Yule, the Solstices

Northern Hemisphere: celebrating Yule, the Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice Sabbat honours the return of the Light after the longest night of the year. A celebration of rebirth and new beginnings.
The Yule season is full of magic, much of it focusing on rebirth and renewal, as the sun makes its way back to the Earth. Focus on this time of new beginnings with your magical workings!

__
Southern Hemisphere: celebrating Litha, the Summer Solstice

The Summer Solstice celebration marks the longest day and shortest night of the year and is the most powerful day of the year for the Sun God. Because this Sabbat glorifies the Sun God and the Sun, fire plays a very prominent role in this festival. The element of Fire is the most easily seen and immediately felt element of transformation. It can burn, consume, cook, shed light or purify and balefires still figure prominently at modern Midsummer rites.

December 24 and 25, 2022: Sun God / Christmas Celebrations

Did you know that what we celebrate today as Christ’s Mass (and the supposed birth of baby Jesus), follows centuries of pagan and roman traditions?

Thousands of years ago, communities gathered during the Winter Solstice, and many rituals were inherited in today’s way of celebrating the end of December.
“The first celebrations can be traced to Stonehenge and then further, all across the world. It wasn’t until 325 AD that Christmas was introduced over the spring equinox (March 25th) and another 25 years before it was moved to the winter solstice with the pagan sun gods. It was Pope Gregory in 1582 who created the Gregorian calendar and moved Christmas to December 25th.” (Beth Train-Brown, December 2019).

The darker days in the Northern Hemisphere invite us for some cheer, lighting up our internal bonfires, honouring beauty and cosiness, gathering, creation and giving.
The lighter days in the Southern Hemisphere may therefore invite all to hold the Sun in their hearts for the conscious collective…

May the end-of-year celebrations be a reminder of our interconnectedness - here, and everywhere, and a beautiful opportunity to gift ourselves fully.

December 26, 2023: Full Moon in Cancer

Peak of self-confidence, overflowing feelings of generosity, and plenty of home happiness. With the Cancer full moon we examine the form side of earthly existence, the consciousness of the kingdoms of nature and the profound wisdom of the Mother of the World.- from pg 15 of the St Soleil Celestial Journal.

Oh, how perfect is this new moon holding us from above as we celebrate the closing of 2023's wonderful chapter, thank the lessons we integrated, and cherish special precious moments with loved ones around!
Another full moon in Cancer to end the year as we started it. December's Cold Moon signals the winter solstice and provides the perfect dark place for reflection for the Northern Hemisphere community. With 2023's bitter cold comes vulnerability. As in January, according to Tarot, this final full moon in Cancer places an emphasis on family. When we're feeling uneasy and unsure, those we love can provide comfort, especially when we're tempted to hide or keep ourselves guarded. That's what this Cold Moon in Cancer has a tendency to do — make us wary of our surroundings.
